Endoscopic Forehead Lift
One of the most common and obvious signs of aging is the gradual heavy, sagging appearance of the forehead and brow. Over time, the delicate skin of the face loses volume and elasticity, and the muscles can become strained or stretched, resulting in wrinkles, loose skin, and a significantly lower brow. If you have noticed that your forehead, eyebrows, and upper eyelids have started to become saggy, an endoscopic forehead lift may be just what you need to regain your youthful, vibrant appearance.
Dr. Mehyrar (Ray) Taban is a board-certified oculoplastic surgeon who specializes in forehead lifts. Whether you simply want to correct your appearance or have been suffering from impaired vision, TabanMD can provide the expert treatment you need for the results you want.
What is the Endoscopic Forehead Lift Procedure?
Unlike a traditional forehead lift, an endoscopic forehead lift involves making only five small incisions in the scalp in order to insert an endoscopic camera to visualize under the skin, as well as another small instrument to make the necessary corrections. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis with only local anesthesia, however, for patients more concerned about undergoing a surgical procedure, an IV sedation can also be provided for relaxation. The entire forehead, from the eyebrows to the hairline can be lifted to revitalize the upper face by adjusting the underlying tissue and lifting the surface skin.
During the procedure, the skin of the forehead is loosened and stretched upward to elevate the forehead. Small suspending sutures are attached to the forehead bones and skin to secure the stretched skin in place. Using the endoscopic technique ensures that the patient will experience less blood loss, less pain, and overall faster recovery.
What is Recovery Like After an Eyebrow Lift?
Following an endoscopic forehead lift, patients can expect to have bruising, swelling, redness, and even itchiness around the surgical site. Fortunately, these side effects typically fade within a week to 10 days. Mild discomfort can be alleviated with pain medication. It is recommended that patients avoid showering or washing their hair for at least two days to allow the sutures to heal. Additionally, patients will have a healing salve to apply to their sutures to prevent infection and to encourage healing. After one to two weeks, the sutures can be removed. Since the small incisions are made in the scalp or hairline, any scarring should be concealed in the hair.
Who Should Perform This Cosmetic Procedure?
If you are considering undergoing a forehead lift procedure, it is important to consult with a board-certified oculoplastic surgeon who has extensive experience performing the operation. There are a number of different forehead lift procedures, some which are better suited to certain patients than others. A skilled oculoplastic surgeon, such as Dr. Taban can expertly perform each procedure.
