What is Eyelid Corrective Surgery?
Drooping, sagging upper eyelids can occur as a result of age, injury, neurological condition, or inherited factors. Fortunately, it is possible to correct drooping eyelids with ptosis surgery. The procedure is fairly simple and straight-forward, depending on the cause, and may require only resectioning loose, weak muscles in the eyelids called levator muscles. These muscles help lift and hold the eyelid at a comfortable level. By shortening and tightening these muscles, it is possible to reposition the lids to a natural level on the eyes, restoring vision and preventing an overly sleepy looking appearance.
Recovering from a eyelid surgery may take a few weeks, but patients usually experience only redness, swelling, and blurry vision for a short period of time before they begin to see results. Full results may take a few months.
