Lower Eyelid Surgery

Have your lower eyelids become heavy and droopy? Do you find that your eyes make you look much more tired and older than you really are? Or do your eyes feel dry and irritated as a result of your loose lower eyelids? If one or both of your lower eyelids are drooping, skilled oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Taban in Los Angeles can provide the solution you need with a simple lower eyelid surgery called a blepharoplasty. To learn more about your options and the procedure, please do not wait to contact Taban MD today!

What Causes Droopy Lower Eyelids?

In most cases, the lower eyelids can become saggy or loose as a result of age, when the skin naturally begins to lose volume and elasticity, particularly in the delicate tissue around the eyes. However, many individuals experience increasing droopiness under the eyes due to genetics, weight gain, medical condition, or injury.

Correcting Lower Eyelids

While it may seem like a surgical operation to correct sagging, hollow undereyes might be invasive, the procedure is fairly simple and requires little downtime. Most patients are thrilled to see that the results are flawless enough that no one can tell that they have undergone surgery.

Dr. Taban has extensive training and experience with the various surgical and non-surgical treatments available for undereye “bags.” The lower lids can be carefully repositioned and excess fat removed in a scar-less procedure that takes no more than 30 minutes to an hour to perform. Depending on the patient, the lower skin tissue around the eyes can be tightened and smoothed with a chemical peel or by “pinching” the underlying muscles that control the lower lids.
