Keeping Your Eyelids From Sagging

As we get older, so does our skin. Unfortunately, the aging process can produce some not-so-glamorous effects, including fine lines, wrinkles, and droopy eyelids. The upper eyelids become heavy, which can cause your natural creases to fade. However, there are a few different treatment options that can diminish the effects of sagging eyelids.

Before turning to surgery, most women attempt to fight the aging process with mounds of makeup, lotions, and night cream. As we all know, these treatments can only work for a little while, but eventually peak, and we are left with the same problem that we started with.

Best Sagging Eyelids Treatment

Don’t worry though, there is light at the end of this dark tunnel; blepharoplasty. Aimed to reduce the appearance of droopy upper and lower eyelids, blepharoplasty removes excess skin on the eyelids and can be performed under local anesthesia or sedative anesthesia.  The recovery time isn’t too debilitating either—in just a couple of short weeks, women and men that undergo the surgery see minimal to no bruising and discomfort is nearly non-existent. The surgery itself takes only an hour to complete, allowing the patient to recover in the comfort of his or her own home in no time.

When you’re having a problem with under-eye hollows, lower blepharoplasty can be performed on your lower eyelids to reduce the appearance of dark circles, leaving you feeling younger, healthier, and more confident in your day-to-day appearance. Fat in the lower eyelids can be removed or repositioned through a scar-less incision hidden on the inner surface of the eyelid to smooth out the under eye area. Additionally, there are non-invasive treatments that can improve the appearance of your under eye area. Non-invasive lower eyelid treatments include laser resurfacing, a chemical peel to smooth and tighten loose skin, and under eye or upper eyelid filler injections to fill the hollow areas.

If you’re having a problem with droopy upper eyelids or under-eye hollows, it’s best to consult with a board certified oculoplastic surgeon to better discuss your ultimate goals and exactly what the procedure will entail.
